We offer a variety of editing, marketing, and design services. These are services independent of our publishing. These are paid services that do NOT guarantee publication but exist for others to utilize as they choose.
Self-Publishing Package Options
Do you have a book that you want to self-publish, but you don’t know where to start? Let us help you! We have three different packages that are tiered and include different services. If you choose one of these packages, you will not be published by Cottage House. Instead, we will give you the materials you need to publish the book on your own—no stress! These packages are also the only way to get internal page design, so if that is a priority for you, go with a package and save on the cumulative services! These packages help you achieve a publication-ready book!
ALL packages include a detailed checklist of what you need to do to self-publish and recommendations from experienced Cottage House staff.

The Alcott – $400 (a $500 value!)
The Alcott is designed for authors who have already had their book edited and simply want the book design completed. We will complete your cover and internal page design and send you all necessary files you need for whatever platform you choose. We will also provide you with social media post designs to help you promote your book.

The Bronte – $900 (a $1000 value!)
The Bronte is designed for authors who have edited their book but need a final round of proofreading in addition to book design. The Bronte includes everything in the Alcott package plus proofreading services and additional social media designs to help you promote your book.

The Austen – $1,400 (a $1500 value!)
The Austen is an all-inclusive package for self-publishing. This includes everything in the Bronte package plus a more thorough round of edits that go beyond proofreading. In addition to extra social media posts, we will also give you custom designs to have your own merch produced to give away to readers or to sell.

The following are our a la carte options for authors who are seeking specific help and would like some professional aid with their writing.

Story Development Assistance
- $150-500 (depending on length)
- for works in progress that are either incomplete or an early draft
- designed to help with developing the plot or characterization
- includes a conference with the editor to discuss
Proofreading
- 1 cent per word up to 100,000 words
- strictly grammatical edits – no additional editing or rewriting
- only for manuscripts already in final form
Editing
- 1 review with notes only
- 2 cents (USD) per word, up to 100,000 words
- includes proofreading but also big picture story editing and structural editing
- conference with editor (in addition to editing cost) starting at $30/hour
Book Art/Cover Design
- $200 for design with up to 3 revisions
- includes conferencing (via email and/or Google form) to determine desired outcome
- digital design only – no illustrations
- includes ebook cover as well as paperback wrap
Social Media Posts (formatted for Instagram and/or X)
- 1 post design for $10
- 3 post designs for $25
- 6 post designs for $50
Merch/Swag Custom Designs
- $5 per design
- Options include bookmarks, stickers, magnets, banners, posters, pins/buttons, author logo, etc.

AI Policy:
Cottage House Publishing, LLC is concerned with the growing use of AI-generated visual and written art. For this reason, we will never engage with work that has been completed using Artificial Intelligence. This includes visual book cover art, internal book art, manuscript text, and advertising/marketing content (i.e. social media posts, book promotion, etc.). We believe in the artistic ability of real people and that AI is incapable of truly mimicking the human soul and its creativity. We will not use AI to generate anything we promote or publish, and we require that you do not submit anything to us that was created using AI.
